Case Studies of Systems Change
By Brinton S. Ramsey and Catherine A. Wallach
A three-year study of four school districts that received district change grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this series is intended to illuminate the challenges of district and high school redesign processes. These case studies can also be used as learning tools for district and high school personnel, technical assistance providers, and others involved in school and district redesign efforts.
This issue examines two new innovative small schools in Washington State -- the Technology Access Foundation Academy and Big Picture Highline. Director Rick Lear reflects on the role of these and other innovative new schools in an indifferent state.
A useful resource for classroom teachers interested in learning more about service learning and seeing actual examples of projects.
