Successful small schools are democratic and committed to ensuring that all voices—including those of teachers, parents, students, and community members—are heard.

To help you create a school culture that is collaborative, we collected tips and resources for facilitating meetings and groups and activities to help you get started. These resources will help members of a school community get to know one another, create ground rules and norms for working together, and develop a structure for providing feedback to each other.

Many of these resources were developed and are used in small schools across the nation. You may also be interested in other tools, especially those on using protocols and looking at student work.
